fairfiled inn wedding with outdoor wedding portraits

A Knoxville wedding at Fairfield Inn

On Friday the water level of the Tennessee river was high, very high. There were warnings for possible flooding. And the rain was expected to continue right through the night and into the next day.

The wedding day started off raining.

When I tried to get to the hotel to meet Victoria and her bridesmaids as they were getting ready, one road was already closed with a car drowned in the middle and water halfway up it’s door.
I took the highway around and drove through 4″ of fresh water flowing over the exit ramp. The on-ramp to the interstate was already closed with another drowned car in the middle of a growing lake that used to be a road. Luckily the hotel was on a hill!

As we were nearing the time to go to the ceremony venue, Hunter Valley Farm, we got word that the road was now under water and closed.
We then went with plan B. Right there at the hotel.

Through all of this, Victoria and Dalton had the most amazing attitudes. Sure, these events were not what any of us wanted for their wedding but we made it work! It was perfect!!! Their hotel wedding had all that really mattered, their friends and family there with them.

You can read about the flooding at their original venue here in this article by WVLT

Victoria and Dalton, thank you for inviting me to share in your wedding day! I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon in Savannah and come back even more in love. I wish you many years of happiness together.
Thank you for trusting to be your wedding photographer.
Love, Nelya
