Why Aftershoot over Imagen

✅️ It was a fixed fee per year for as many photos as I want.

✅️ It works offline so I can use it even when I’m without good internet service. This was a non negotiable for me. If the internet is not available I need to be able to continue on schedule.

✅️ Training the editing profile was a straight forward process. I just uploaded 5k of my edited smart previews from a wide variety of lighting situations. And it was good. I still look over every photo and make minor adjustments here and there.

UPDATE: I got some different cameras. I then retrained my editing profile with current camera bodies and current lenses and the editing profile is great!!

How good are the premade editing profiles in Aftershoot?

I guess what makes me feel AI isn’t a sloppy watered down version of what I used to provide my clients before using Aftershoot, is that I train it to do things exactly the way I like.

All that to say, I have not tried any of the premade profiles. I have no interest in looking like another photographer in order to save time. Premade profiles was never a selling point in Aftershoot for me.

How to export smart previews as a catalog

To export Smart Previews from Lightroom Classic (LRC), you need to use the Export as Catalog function. Select the photos or folder, go to File > Export as Catalog, and in the export dialog, check the box for “Build/Include Smart Previews”. This process creates a new folder containing your Lightroom catalog file and a separate folder with the Smart Previews for the selected images.
