The Julianna Wedding Venue Guide | Knoxville, Tennessee

Getting Married at The Julianna

It’s the kind of place where guests can settle in, relax, and really connect. And thanks to the in-house If you’re looking for a wedding venue that feels tucked away in nature without leaving Knoxville, The Julianna offers a rare combination of convenience and charm. Originally an upscale horse stable, the property has been thoughtfully transformed into a romantic garden estate with wooded ceremony spaces, intimate gathering areas, and overnight accommodations.

The Julianna is one of those venues that feels private and peaceful the moment you arrive, yet it’s only minutes from hotels, restaurants, and everything West Knoxville has to offer.

Why Couples Love The Julianna

The Julianna is perfect for couples who want a wedding day that feels relaxed, intimate, and connected to nature.

Couples are often drawn to:

  • The private estate atmosphere
  • Beautiful wooded ceremony locations
  • Garden-inspired landscaping throughout the property
  • Historic character from the venue’s horse stable origins
  • Multiple portrait locations within walking distance
  • On-site farmhouse accommodations
  • Easy access for local and out-of-town guests

Guests frequently comment on the shaded walk into the woodland ceremony space and how surprising it is to find such a secluded-feeling property right in Knoxville.

This venue is especially well-suited for couples planning an outdoor wedding with a natural, romantic aesthetic.

Couples hoping for a large ballroom, modern industrial venue, or grand indoor space with soaring ceilings may prefer a different style of venue.

Best Photo Spots at The Julianna

One of the biggest advantages of The Julianna is how many portrait locations are available without ever leaving the property.
The Courtyard
The courtyard offers clean lines, beautiful landscaping, and a classic garden feel. It’s one of my favorite locations for family portraits and couples’ portraits throughout the day.
The Woodland Ceremony Space
The wooded ceremony site provides beautiful filtered light and a secluded atmosphere. The shaded pathway leading into the ceremony area is one of the venue’s most memorable features.
The Tree-Lined Drive
The tree-lined road creates a timeless estate feel and photographs beautifully throughout the year.

The Front of the Venue
The front porch offers architectural interest right from the parking lot.
The Hill and Open Field
Couples wanting sunset portraits often love the hill and surrounding open areas, which create beautiful depth and separation from the background.
Portraits with the Horses
Depending on availability and the couple’s vision, incorporating the horses can create unique portraits that celebrate the property’s history and charm.

The Julianna Ceremony Locations

The Julianna offers choice of ceremony locations for you to choose from:

  • Option 1: the Woodsy Ceremony
  • outdoors across the little bridge or down the stone path surrounded by hedges, and trees.
  • Option 2 to the left in in front of old cedar trunks
  • Option 3: indoors the rain plan is an indoor ceremony with room flip for the reception.
  • Option 4: The Field
up in the big field for larger ceremonies.

Reception Space & Guest Experience

The reception space feels warm and intimate rather than oversized.

Most couples arrange guest tables around the fireplace, creating a cozy atmosphere where everyone feels connected to the celebration. The dance floor and cake-cutting area are typically positioned in the center of the venue.

For buffet-style receptions, catering is often set up opposite the kitchen, allowing guests to move through the space efficiently without disrupting the flow of the evening.

For larger celebrations, many couples choose to incorporate the courtyard or add a tent to expand the event footprint.

Lighting & Timeline Tips

Golden hour is beautiful at The Julianna, but there is one important planning consideration.

Because the property faces more toward the northeast, the warm evening light tends to disappear earlier than many couples expect. I often recommend scheduling sunset portraits a little earlier than the published sunset time to make sure you catch the best light.

Another thing to know is that the woodland ceremony space is not completely level. Depending on the ceremony orientation, one side of the guest seating area may sit noticeably lower than the other.

It’s worth discussing ceremony placement during planning so that both the guest experience and ceremony photographs look their best.

Amenities

Reserving The Julianna for both a ceremony and a reception allows access usage of the bridal and groom’s suite, located in the Julianna. Additionally there is options to add the farm house for overnight options for bridal parties and out of town guests.

There are also a bridal suite and groom’s suite in the venue

Lodging & Overnight Accommodations

Adjacent to the venue is a farmhouse available for overnight stays.

Couples often reserve the farmhouse for:

  • Wedding morning preparations
  • Bridal party accommodations
  • Hosting out-of-town family members
  • A honeymoon suite after the wedding

If you’re interested in a full wedding weekend experience, ask about reserving both the venue and farmhouse together.

Please note that the farmhouse living space is located upstairs and is not wheelchair accessible.

    The Julianna Booking Process

Couples can inquire through the venue website to schedule a tour. Suzanne and Lisa personally guide most tours and walk couples through the property, ceremony sites, reception areas, and accommodation options.

The venue does not require preferred vendors, though they maintain a list of trusted professionals they regularly recommend.

When touring, be sure to ask about:

    • Ceremony location options
    • Reserving the farmhouse
    • Overnight accommodations

    From a Photographer’s Perspective

The Julianna is one of my favorite Knoxville venues to photograph because everything feels thoughtfully connected.

It’s conveniently located just off Northshore Drive, the owners are wonderful to work with, and the property offers a variety of portrait locations without requiring extensive travel throughout the day.

The venue strikes a balance that can be difficult to find: it feels private and secluded while still being incredibly accessible for couples and guests.

For couples who want a wedding surrounded by gardens, mature trees, and historic charm, The Julianna offers one of the most unique wedding experiences in Knoxville
